Automated Resurrection is a 22” tall sculpture that was completed in 2009 and is part of my “Mechanical Christ” Series. This figure in this piece is called ATOM and is about 14” tall. Atom is a profit that is being resurrected by machines to become a living ARK for the remnants of mankind. The structure/armor around him is actually a sentient machine that protects and can even resurrect him from mortal wounds. I actually have an entire movie script and a shitload of storyboards about him and other characters. ATOM is the main character in my continuation of STASIS. The woman in stop-motion film, Evelyn, is his wife. Like Evelyn, he gets crucified, comes back to life back then kicks some ass to find his long lost love. Someday I’ll finish the movie!

Initially, I sculpted him naked in Polymer clay then molded him in a silicone case mold. Once I had a casting, I added all the intricate details on his body using a hard waxy clay called Castilene Clay then remolded him. The base which supports him was done in Monster Makers oil clay and I used some model parts and other found objects here and there for small details. It’s actually the door to the Immaculate Contraption Machine on my portfolio page. Someday I’d like to revisit this piece in Bronze. The beautiful photos are by my talented friend Nick Nacca.
